    VAN WERT – This past weekend, during Rockford Community Days, Parkway alumni teacher and artist Todd Buschur returned to the community where he made the first strokes of paint toward the design of his first picture.

    VAN WERT – On Friday, Dan Baisden spent his final day as Van Wert’s Main Street Director. On Monday, he starts his new job as a City Planner in the Planning and Policy Department at the City of Fort Wayne.

  • Senior pets great option for many

    VAN WERT – While the number can vary from pet to pet, most dogs and cats are considered “seniors” at age seven. The Van Wert County Humane Society Shelter has many senior pets, which they explained are perfect pets for many people who don’t have time for a puppy.

    MIDDLE POINT – For the second straight game, the Lincolnview Acme team was barely able to field nine players. This time the Lancers were missing five starters – all playing in other leagues – but once again the inexperienced freshmen and sophomores were up to the task, helping to pull out a wild 11-10 win over Columbus Grove.

  • Earlier this week a resident addressed City Council about litter she sees in roadways, on sidewalks, and around various other parts of town. She noted that she had been doing her best to pick it up and asked if there was anyone that could help her. I admired her diligence, effort, and the fact that she wasn’t complaining about picking it up herself, but instead, asking for someone to help her do it.

  • Opioid overdose responsible for over 500,000 years of life lost in Ohio

    OHIO – More than 500,000 years of life expectancy were lost in Ohio during a seven-year period, according to a study conducted by The Ohio Alliance for Innovation in Population Health (OAIPH) — a collaborative initiative formed by Ohio University’s College of Health Sciences and Professions and the University of Toledo’s College of Health and Human Services.
