A biennial Van Wert Christmas tradition returns to First United Methodist Church this Sunday night at 7 p.m. when Handel's Messiah will be performed. A chorus of 65 singers will be joined by a chamber orchestra and four soloists for this mainly Christmas portion of Messiah. Charlotte Detrick, soprano, Julia Szabo, alto, Jake Wilder, tenor, and Timothy Bruno, bass, will be the soloists for the evening. The performance is directed by Paul Hoverman and is underwritten with a grant from The Van Wert County Foundation. A free-will offering will be taken during the Pastoral Symphony to help defray additional costs. Doors to the sanctuary are open to the public at 6:15 p.m.
