Lady Board enjoys Christmas meal

VAN WERT - On a snowy Dec. 16, sixteen of the ladies gathered for a delicious Christmas meal of ham, sweet potato casserole, buttered almond green beans, cabbage slaw, rolls, a variety of pies and beverages. The committee for the meeting was Lorraine Niese, Lois Feasby and Linda Say. They decorated the tables with Christmas decor and each member received a handmade tree ornament and Santa candy.
Lois Schoonover presided over the business meeting. Lorraine Niese presented the meditation. Members shared friends and shut-ins that they were remembering with holiday cards and notes. The cheer committee reported that cards were prepared for sending in January and February when the group does not meet.
Marge Clouse, sewing room manager, reported the following items were completed through December: in November, 23 ladies sewed 92 hours, completed 33 new items and mended 17 items. In December, 16 ladies sewed 64 hours, completing 34 new items and mended 4.
Lois Schoonover, the group's president for the past four years, thanked the members for their cooperation and wished them a happy holiday season. The group welcomed Lynn Vonderwell as the incoming president for 2014 and she distributed the 2014 program leaflets. Other officers for the 2014 year are Helen Devitt, vice president; Shirley Bolton, secretary; Loretta Williams, asst. secretary, Connie Keirns, treasurer and Joan Giessler, asst. treasurer.
The group's next meeting is scheduled for March 24. The following ladies were in attendance: Jean Wittung, Lynne Vonderwell, Carla Miller, Carol Gruelach, Ruth Osting, Lorraine Niese, Anna Hammons, Marge Clause, Pauline Gamble, Shirley Bolton, Bev Wolke, Mary Ann Salway, Lois Linser, Linda Say and Helen Devitt.
