Wind energy program presented to Lady Board

VAN WERT - The Lady Board of Managers met on Monday, Sept. 24 at the Van Wert Hospital with 22 members present. President Lois Schoonover opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag and the thought of the day. "Each generation imagines itself to be more intelligent than the one that went before it and wiser than the one that comes after it."
Jim O'Connor of Iberdrola Renewable Energy was the guest speaker. He explained the area covered by the wind farms, why the area was selected, the assembly process of the turbines and who purchases the energy produced. Jim answered several questions the ladies wondered about. The main one being why one turbine may be moving and the ones beside it are not.
Ruth Osting, assistant secretary, presented the roll call and secretary's report. Connie Kearns, gave the treasurer's report. The sewing report was presented by Marge Clouse. Twenty-three women sewed ninety-two hours making four hundred twenty-eight new items and repairing eleven items.
Bev Wolke, Nancy Replogle and Anna Hammon were introduced as new members of the group.
The group sang Happy Birthday to Pauline Gamble who was celebrating her 94th birthday that day. Other October birthdays are Carol Greulach, Sharon Roberts and Lois Schoonover.
The next meeting will be Oct. 22 at 1:30 in Conference Room "A" at the hospital with Ridge and Washington Townships in charge of the program.
President Schoonover closed the meeting with the following saying: "The best helping hand that you will ever receive is the one at the end of your own arm."
