VAN WERT — Sip
and Paint gatherings, which started in bigger cities, have grown and
expanded into small towns including Van Wert.
Since it started in
the fall of 2014, Van Wert Area “Playing with Paint” is still going
strong. Inspiration and creativity come alive in the two-and-a-half hour
session, as participants walk through a painting with a seasoned artist
and take home their finished artistic creation.
and drink with friends in a fun, social environment and have the
opportunity to meet new friends as they travel the journey from blank
canvas, wood or slate to finished masterpiece.
“I think it is
amazing what women and men alike, think they cannot do, such as paint a
‘like’ picture with a little helpful instruction,” Ginger Rahrig said.
“It really is so much easier than one thinks! You only have to come once
and you are hooked! Painting is not only fun but therapeutic. Used for a
wide range of disease and illness treatment plans, as well as
behavioral issue therapies, art forms have proven to be successful as a
non drug approach to a more peaceful life in many situations.”
Wert Area “Playing With Paint” currently offers a weekly Wednesday
evening Sip and Paint at McCoy’s Flowers and one monthly Thursday
afternoon Sip and Paint at DeShia Country Shoppe and is steadily
growing. Previously seated in Brewed Expressions Cafe, a good foundation
was planted. All supplies are included so all participants have to do
is sign up, show up and enjoy the fun.
Events are also hosted
privately for local businesses, office staff, clubs, church groups and
of course family and friend special events such as birthday parties,
wedding and baby showers.
“There is peace in painting for me and I
believe each time someone creates art, they have a new found peace,”
Rahrig said. “If only for a short time out of one’s busy schedule or
often one’s need for something a single person can do in a safe
environment, I can help you find joy and laughter with the beautiful
colors we have been given in this life, I have accomplished my goal.
From ages 10 to 100 are welcome. Guys and gals.”
