Premier Coup class participants enjoy creating paintings in as little as two hours. (Photo submitted)
Artwork is coming in for the 23rd Annual Artists Sale and Exhibit! This is one of my favorite events of the year. It is relaxed, fun and ushers in the holiday season. I do not enjoy mob-shopping and this opportunity to buy original, unique gifts in a peaceful environment is a great alternative to participating in violence over the sweater bin at Kohl's.
We will be accepting artwork such as but not limited to paintings, jewelry, ceramics and sculpture through Nov. 10, from 1-5 p.m. We'll open up on Black Friday, November 23 at 1 p.m. The public opening reception will be held on Saturday, Nov. 24, 6 - 8 p.m.
We'll serve mulled wine, cider, hor d'oeuvres and feature live acoustic guitar by Ottoville, native Nathan Eric Johnson. Awards will be presented at 7 p.m. Stop in for a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and refreshments, peruse the local artwork, which has been going on in the Van Wert region for over 80 years.
This past weekend we held a Premier Coup painting class and we had a blast! Nine women (non-artists) attending a class reunion stopped in for a couple hours and left with a finished painting! This is a great way for office parties or groups to get together and try something new and learn that it truly is fairly easy and fun to create a painting you can take home and hang on your wall.
At this writing we will begin our Gifts from the Kiln class tonight. Another no-pressure class where we have chosen several cool bisque-ware pieces you can simply have fun glazing however you like. We have plates, mugs, a piggy bank, nesting dolls and ornaments to choose from. This is a great class for a parent/grandparent/child project.
It's not too late! Tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. we begin Decorative Ceramic Carving with Matt Temple. Learn how he creates those amazing bas relief carving into clay.
