VAN WERT - In the early hours of Sunday morning, Remedy Sports Bar and Grill located in the 100 block of N. Main Street in Convoy was broken into and robbed. At 10:22 a.m., the bar owner, Jeff Duncan, entered the premises to collect the money bags from the weekend, but this morning routine soon became out of the ordinary when Duncan noticed the usually locked office door standing ajar. Duncan immediately called the Van Wert Sheriff's Department for assistance.

Officer Ed Klausing reported to the scene to investigate the reported break in. Klausing noted pry marks on the front door as well as the side door to the business. The office door as well as the safe inside had also been pried open with the money contained inside missing. Lottery money as well as the cash inside the register was also taken, and two bags of hidden money were also missing from inside the business.

Convoy is a busy destination on Saturday nights after the rodeo has concluded. It is guessed that the person responsible knew that this was a busy night for the local businesses and chose to strike at this time. Convoy Police Chief Steve Haggerty was notified that there may have been an attempted breaking and entering at The Tavern the same night. When bartenders left that night, their security lights had been unscrewed at the rear entrance to the building. This leads investigators to believe that The Tavern was also a target along with Remedy's.

Fingerprints could not be pulled from the safe inside Remedys, and the culprit remains unknown at this time. The case remains under investigation.
