CELINA - One day after putting out a plea for information from the public, the Celina Police Department has made an arrest in connection with the vehicle arson fires in that city earlier this week.

According to Celina Police, Ridge A. Matthews, 19, Celina was arrested without incident and was taken to the Mercer County Jail. He has been charged with two counts of fourth-degree felony arson.

Car fires were reported in the northeast portion of Celina early Tuesday morning at Queensbury and Ivy Lane, then at another location less than a block away. No one was injured in the fires, but investigators sought out tips from anyone who saw anything suspicious in that area.

Matthews is scheduled for arraignment Friday morning, but the investigation is continuing. Police are still asking for any information from possible witnesses at (419) 586-2345.
