CELINA - A dozen people were indicted and arrested on drug trafficking charges after an investigation by the Grand Lake Drug Task Force. The task force is a combined effort of law enforcement agencies in Mercer and Auglaize Counties. Deputies were assisted by the Celina Police Department.
Officers arrested James C. Prater and Krista Hromish, each 23, then obtained a search warrant for their home at 813 Sycamore St. and seized approximately 22 grams of heroin, various drug paraphernalia, a 22 caliber FIE Tex revolver, 40 rounds of 9 MM ammunition, 3 digital scales, $62.00 in cash, and three partial bottles with various pills inside.

Prater is charged with three fifth-degree felony counts of trafficking in heroin and one fourth-degree felony count of trafficking in heroin. Hromish is charged with three fifth-degree felony counts of trafficking in heroin.

Another search warrant was obtained after the arrests of Joesph Hammond, 26, and Juanita M. Ginter, 36. The search of their home at 632 Grove St., Apt. 5 in Celina. At that address, police seized approximately 5 grams of heroin, various drug paraphernalia, digital scales, a pill bottle with various pills inside, two glass bongs, and several glass pipes.

Hammond was charged with one count of fifth-degree felony trafficking in heroin and two counts of fourth-degree felony trafficking in heroin. Ginter faces three counts of fifth-degree felony trafficking in heroin and one count of fourth-degree trafficking in heroin.

Also arrested was Kerry Howell, 24, Celina. He was charged with three counts of fifth-degree felony trafficking in heroin. Deputies also seized two grams of heroin that was on Howell's person.

Others arrested and charged in this investigation include Douglas Gilliland, 24, on three fifth-degree felony counts of trafficking in drugs (hydrocodone); Caroline Gilliland, 50, Celina, on two fifth-degree felony counts of trafficking in drugs (hydrocodone); Jennifer Woods, 22, Celina, on fifth-degree felony count of trafficking in drugs (buprenorphine), and two fourth-degree felony counts of trafficking in drugs (buprenorphine); Cindy Maxwell, 31, Celina, on three fifth-degree felony counts of trafficking in heroin; Joshua Bensing, 28, Celina, on two fourth-degree felony charges of trafficking in marijuana and one fifth-degree felony count of trafficking in marijuana; and George Darland, 20, one fifth-degree felony count of offenses involving unapproved drugs and one fifth-degree felony count of offenses involving counterfeit controlled substances.

Also arrested on April 5 was Crystal Brock, 22, Celina. Brock is charged by Coldwater Police with one count of fifth-degree felony possession of methamphetamines.

The total amount seized by task force members was 29 grams of heroin. The estimated street value of the drugs is between $2,900-$4,000. Also seized was a 2004 red Ford Explorer.
