Halloween events scheduled for this weekend

VAN WERT - The next several days will be packed with Halloween activities around the county.
On Thursday, October 27, the city of Delphos will hold their trick-or-treat from 6 - 7:30 p.m. Also in Delphos, join Jacob Gordon at the Annex, S. Jefferson St. at 7 p.m. for a seminar on "The French Revolution and the Church." This period in history was filled with terror, betrayal, and guillotines. Free treats will be available, and the public is welcome. (Call 419) 695-4050 to register.
The Harvest Moon Festival kicks off in Van Wert on Friday, October 28 with a Main Street Open Market from 4 - 7 p.m. Downtown restaurants will be selling fall-themed treats and drinks. Also happening is The Great Pumpkin Hunt - a scavenger hunt for all ages through the Historic Downtown, chilling tales of Van Wert County's past from 'The Settler' at the Garden of the Senses and the Autumn Adventure Sleepover at the Van Wert Fairgrounds beginning at 8 p.m. The sleepover is put on by Buckeye Y Youth. Festivities start early on Saturday morning with the Second Annual 5K Trick-or-Trot through Downtown Van Wert. The race begins at 9 a.m. in front of the County Courthouse. Race day registration starts at 7:30 a.m. Registration forms can be picked up at the Main Street Van Wert Office.
Children should stay downtown following the run for downtown trick-or-treating from 9:30 - 11 a.m. Also going on will be Pumpkin Bowling, pumpkin painting at McCoy's Flowers and Diamonds and lessons on arranging a fall bouquet or centerpiece at the Fall Arrangement Workshop Saturday at Fettig's Flowers.
Also in Van Wert, the Fall Fright Fest will begin at the Van Wert County Fairgrounds at noon. Games, treats and contests will be available for children of all ages!
Pizza Hut in Van Wert will hold their annual 'Hut'oberfest on Saturday from 1 - 3 p.m. where you can bring your ghost and goblins in for free carnival games, prizes and cotton candy. The 'BOO'ffet will run from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Trick-or-Treat will take place on Saturday in several area towns:
- Convoy from 5:30 - 7 p.m.
- Mendon from 4:30-6:30 p.m.; costume judging at the fire house at 7 p.m.
- Middle Point from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.
- Rockford from 6-7:30 p.m.; costume judging at the fire house at 8 p.m.
- Van Wert from 4 - 6 p.m.
- Venedocia from 6 - 7:30 p.m. with the costume judging at the Lion's Club at 8 p.m.
- Willshire from 4 - 6 p.m.; costume registration in the park 6 - 6:30 p.m. with judging to follow.
