Have you had a chance to take a drive with Miss Daisy? You have four more opportunities this week before she hits the road for good. The box office is open daily from 2-6 p.m., so give then a call at (419) 238-9689 and make your reservation.

This play is like a beautiful painting or photo; the more you look at it, the more you see. Driving Miss Daisy is full of small nuances that, as the actors being them out, deepen your appreciation of this meaningful story. Don't miss it! It is one of the best entertainment values in the area, at only $9 a ticket ($8 for seniors and students).

After this weekend we'll be taking a few days off to celebrate Thanksgiving with our families, then it'll be back to work with auditions for Big River, the next production for our 54th season. Big River is a wonderful American musical based on The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, with music written by Roger Miller, of pop music fame. Roger Miller is the composer and singer of King of the Road, a popular song from the 1960's. Director Jerry Zimmerman and yours truly will be auditioning prospective actors for a "cast of thousands" on Sunday, Dec. 2, and Monday, Dec. 3. Both auditions will begin at 7 p.m., so pull out your sheet music and come on over! Even if you've never auditioned before and don't know how to go about it, come on over and we'll walk you through it. It's a painless process!

If you're a web surfer, you'll want to know about our new website, www.vanwertcivictheatre.org. It's a beautiful site, with lots of pages about the theatre, our current production, upcoming auditions, box office and ticket information, and our blog, written by yours truly. If you've missed any Wednesday columns in the Times-Bulletin, you can read them there, along with a review of the current production! Come visit us and bookmark the site - you'll want to return there frequently.

There's also a link to our Facebook page (called simply, Van Wert Civic Theatre). On our page you'll find pictures of productions from this season and recent seasons past. You'll also be able to keep up to date on the latest news from the theatre as well as requests for ushers, hosts, and so on. If you'd like to be a part of our family, but you think you're too busy to do onstage or backstage work, come a few evenings and help us make the rest of the community comfortable, seating them in our beautiful auditorium and making sure there are refreshments at intermission. There is need for support personnel of all kinds for each production!

So, this next weekend, if you've got a couple of free hours, come visit us at the theatre on the corner of Race Street and Central Avenue. You'll not believe the quality of entertainment you'll see for only $9 a person. Van Wert Civic Theatre is noted statewide for their consistently high level of theatrical performance, and this production is a good example of that. In fact, you may want to come twice. Bring a friend both times, and you'll have double the enjoyment!

See you at the show!
