OHIO CITY - Several arrests were made this weekend in Ohio City, according to a release from Van Wert County Sheriff Stan D. Owens.

On Saturday, July 16 at 1:12 a.m., a Deputy on patrol observed a vehicle from Michigan going west on State Route 709 towards Ohio City. The vehicle stopped in the middle of the road on Ball Street. The Deputy checked to see if there were any problems, and when checking the driving status of the driver, Darlene Hendershoff, age 36 of Flint, Michigan, found she was driving under suspension. Hendershoff was placed under arrest.

While searching the vehicle, heroin and drug abuse instruments were found. Hendershoff admitted the heroin belonged to her. She was arraigned in Van Wert Municipal Court on Monday, July 18 for driving under suspension, fifth-degree possession of heroin, and two misdemeanor counts of possession of drug abuse instruments.

On Sunday, July 17 at 5:09 a.m., Van Wert County Sheriff Office received a call from the driver of Advantage Limo Service of Delphos that someone had stolen the party bus he was driving from Ramblers Roost on East Lincoln Highway. Occupants of the bus, along with the driver, went into the truck stop to eat, and when leaving the restaurant, found the bus was missing. There were two subjects that stayed on the bus.

An attempt to locate was given out to area law enforcement agencies. At 5:32 a.m., Post 81 located the bus on Hoffman Street in Ohio City. Investigation showed Justin Tansy, age 26 from Brownsburg, Indiana had driven off with the bus and Jake Strick, age 25 of Van Wert, was also with him when the bus was stolen. Tansy was charged with grand theft, a felony of the fourth degree, and Strick was charged with complicity to grand theft, a felony of the fourth degree. Both suspects appeared in Van Wert Municipal Court on Monday, July 18.

Another incident occurred later in the evening on Sunday, July 17. At 8:20 p.m., a Deputy was checking out a suspicious vehicle that earlier had been reported as to be carrying drugs to Ohio City. While investigating, the deputy found marijuana, drug paraphernalia and prescription drugs in the vehicle. Robert Platt Jr., 34, of Ohio City was charged with two counts fifth-degree possession of prescription drugs and three misdemeanor counts. Platt also appeared in Van Wert Municipal Court on Monday, July 18.
