A white pickup truck was totaled in Convoy Thursday afternoon when an elderly driver turned off of Sycamore St. and struck a pole behind the Convoy Post Office around 1 p.m. Responding officers believe that the truck could have been going up to 30 miles per hour due to the damage done to the truck and the pole being snapped off. The accident remains under investigation.
Not even two hours later, the Van Wert Sheriff's Office responded to a second accident about two-miles north of Van Wert around 2:30 p.m. when a generator fell out of the back of a truck. Over seven gallons of diesel fuel spilled from the generator leaving a small mess for sheriff's officers but not enough was spilled to contact Hazmat.
