The Wassenberg is hopping. We have a jam-packed November and we can't wait to share it with you so stop by for a visit at one or more of our many events!
First of all we have over 250 art entries by over 40 regional and national artists for our 23rd Annual Artists Member Exhibit & Sale! Everything from jewelry and vibrant paintings to a sculpture of a dog made out of a computer motherboard is here waiting for the holiday shopping season. One-of-a-kind items are one of the best ways to shop for those we love. We are opening on Black Friday, Nov. 23 from 1-5 p.m. and will have a public reception on Saturday, Nov. 24, 6-8 p.m. Awards will be presented at 7 p.m. Live music by Nathan Eric Johnson, hor d'oeuvres, mulled wine and hot spiced cider will be served. Join us!
We are also pleased to announce that we will host a book signing for the newly published book called Grandma's Garden on Nov. 28, at 7 p.m. The book is written by Holly Mishler, Monroe, Ind., and illustrated by watercolorist, Karen Flesch, Decatur, Ind. This timeless children's story is written from the viewpoint of well-loved flowers in a woman's garden and speaks poignantly of the seasons of time, love, faith and rebirth.
Though written for children, readers of all ages will find comforting passages of what is truly important in life and insight into the ways we process grief. With each page lush in vibrant watercolor illustrations, it will surely become a bedtime story favorite. Holly and Karen are fellow teachers at Adams Central Community Schools in Monroe, Ind., where Holly is a high ability English language coordinator and teacher and Karen teaches art. Both author and illustrator will be on hand to sign copies of the book and will give a presentation on their collaboration and production of the project. Occurring just in time for the holidays, cost for the event is $25 and includes the cost of a signed book and light refreshments. Contact us to register for this program. For more information about the book visit: hollycoltermishler.com.
