DELPHOS - A raid on an alleged drug house in Delphos resulted in the arrest of a 51-year-old man and the confiscation of a large amount of drugs.

Members of the West Central Ohio Crime Task Force and members of the Allen County Sheriff's Office Swat Team served a warrant at 835 W. Skinner St., Lot 75 in Delphos Thursday at 9:35 a.m. That residence had been the subject of an investigation by the task force.
Inside the residence, officers found Matthew L. Brown who was arrested and booked on one count of heroin possession. He is being held in the Van Wert County Jail. It is expected that additional charges will be forthcoming after the next meeting of the Van Wert County Grand Jury.

In a search of the house, task force members located large quantities of what are suspected to be heroin, cocaine, drug paraphernalia and money. Also found was a moderate quantity of suspected marijuana and a small quantity of suspected pharmaceutical pills.

The volume of heroin and cocaine are enough to qualify as first-degree felonies, and Delphos Police Chief Kyle Fittro stated that if Brown is indicted and convicted of all potential charges, he faces up to 23 years in prison. He also called the operation "the most substantial drug-related search warrant that has been carried out within the City of Delphos in over a decade."

Thus far in 2012, 18 persons have been arrested on 52 separate drug-related indictments in Delphos. There have been 12 drug-related search warrants executing in that city in the past 12 months.

The West Central Ohio Crime Task Force is comprised of officers from the Allen County Sheriff's Office, Van Wert County Sheriff's Office, Lima Police Department, Delphos Police Department and multiple state and federal agencies. This task force operates within a multi-county area to combat drugs and major crimes.
