VWCS board accepts 7 retirements

Seven resignations from staff members were accepted Monday morning in a special session of the Van Wert City Schools Board of Education at the Goedde Building. Each of the seven are retiring. In all, 228 years of education experience will leave the district as of the end of the 2012-2012 school year.The retirees are: Middle school guidance counselor Ed Clark after 30 years in education, 25 of those with VWCS; Early Childhood Center Title 1 teacher Jeannie Ditmyer after 35 years in education, all but one with VWCS; special education teacher Christine Heizman after 32 years in education, 31 of those with VWCS; Middle school social studies teacher Mike Ragan after 32 years with VWCS; Middle school para-professional Jackie Stetler after 29 years with the district; High school mathe teacher Cindy Thomas after 35 years in education, 33 of those with VWCS; and High school industrial education teacher Steve Thomas after 35 years with Van Wert City Schools.
Also during Monday's special session, Ed Wells was approved as bus maintenance supervisor effective Jan. 1. The board also accepted Wells' resignation as bus mechanic.
