VAN WERT, Ohio - Delbert Eugene "V W Wildman" Jewell, 58, of Van Wert, died at 6:05 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010, at Van Wert Manor Nursing Home, Van Wert.

He was born on Feb. 16, 1952, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Ernest D. Jewell and Carol Joan (Wolfcale).

Survivors include a son: Delbert E. (Brenda) Jewell II of Van Wert; an adopted son: Tommy Kline (Alisha) of Van Wert; a stepson: Robert "Bob" Fuelling of Van Wert; one brother: Don E. Jewell of Convoy, Ohio; three sisters: Debbie (Jerry) Leiter, Penny (Clark) Roberts and Joette Fox Jewell, all of Van Wert; two grandchildren, Steffon Saco and Victoria Fuelling; his stepgrandchildren: Sean, Seth, Shea Marbaugh; a sister-in-law: Angie Foust of Scott, Ohio; one brother-in-law: Tom Kline of Rockford, Ohio, and the mother of his sons: Shirley Jewell of Van Wert.

He was preceded in death by a child, Angela Saco, who died Dec. 22, 1997, one brother: Clyde Alan Jewell, who died July 12, 2001, and a sister: Cynthia Ann Kline, who died May 24, 2008.

He was a retired truck driver, a 1972 graduate of Hollywood Hill High School in Hollywood, Fla., a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War; a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803 in Van Wert and American Legion Post 178, and a member of the Van Wert Eagles Aerie.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert. The Rev. Paul W. Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Auglaize Chapel Cemetery, Washington Township, Oakwood, Ohio. Military graveside services will be conducted by the combined posts of American Legion 178 and V.F.W. Post 5803. Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. until time of service on Friday.

Preferred memorial is the American Diabetes Association.
