VAN WERT, Ohio - Leroy G. Comer, 92, of Van Wert, died at 8:22 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at Van Wert Hospital, Van Wert.
He was born March 26, 1920, in Michigan, to the late Emma (Deardorff) Comer and Grant Comer.
His wife, Garnett A. (Sowers) Comer, died April 11, 2008.
Survivors include his children: James Comer of Van Wert, Diane (Larry) Games of Mason, Ohio, and Jan (Brent) Van Horn of Pickerington, Ohio; a sister: Izola Plasterer of Decatur, Ind.; four grandchildren: Allison (Nicolas) Vu and Mark (Martine) Games, Joel Van Horn and Drue (Rebecca) Van Horn, and two great-grandchildren: Sydney Tino and Irelyn Van Horn.
He was preceded in death by his brothers: Robert, Kenneth and Guy Comer.
He was a salesman at Gunsett's Hardware and Bagley Builders for many years. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Van Wert, a US Army veteran of WWII, and a member of the Van Wert American Legion and Van Wert Moose.
Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. The Rev. William Haggis will officiate. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Van Wert American Legion and VFW Posts. Friends may call at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Van Wert.
