OHIO CITY, Ohio - Louis W. Etzkorn, 81, of Ohio City, formerly of Landeck, died at 2:25 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at Van Wert Hospital.
He was born Sept. 30, 1931, in Landeck, to the late Ralph and Adelia (Wienken) Etzkorn.
He was united in marriage to Norma Ricker on Nov. 21, 1992. She survives in Ohio City.
He loved to play the organ, go fishing, polka dance. And he loved to go to winter home in Auburndale, Fla. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption and was a past member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Landeck, the American Legion and the Farm Bureau.
He was a lifelong farmer and an Army veteran.
Survivors include five sons: Leonard Etzkorn of Spencerville, Larry (Sherri) Etzkorn and Mark (Karen) Etzkorn, both of Delphos, Alan Etzkorn of Spencerville and Steve Etzkorn of Delphos; a daughter: Nancy Grothouse of Delphos; one sister: Angela (Richard) Wieser of Lima; a brother: Jerome (Martha) Etzkorn of Delphos; a stepdaughter: Polly (Tom Ridenhour) Brinkman of Lower Salem,Ohio; three stepsons: Gerald Hoehn Jr. of Union City, Ohio, Roger (Deanna) Hoehn and Roy (Lisa) Hoehn, both of Delphos; 20 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two granddaughters.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Landeck. The Rev. Chris Bohnsack will officiate. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Landeck with military grave rites by the Delphos Veterans Council.
Visitation will be on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, from 2-8 p.m. at Harter and Schier Funeral Home, Delphos. There will be a parish wake on Sunday to begin at 7:30 p.m.
