GROVER HILL, Ohio - Mahlon E. Thompson, 91, of Grover Hill, died at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at Vancrest Healthcare Center, Van Wert, Ohio.
He was born Oct. 19, 1918, in Van Wert County, Ohio, to the late Bessie (Adams) Thompson and Alfred E. Thompson. He married Antha Rose (McClure) Thompson and she died in 1955. Then, in 1957, he married Helen (Sink) Noggle and she died in 2006.
Survivors include his sons, Jerry (Vivian) Thompson of Grover Hill, Vic (Ellen) Thompson of Sun City, Fla., George (Sue) Noggle and Eddie (Ruth) Noggle, both of Van Wert, Ohio; his daughters, Scheryl Reidenbach of Lima, Ohio, Shelbyan (Larry) Tribolet of Middle Point, Ohio, and Gayle Noggle of Van Wert; his grandchildren, Holly Edwards, Missy Williams, Darren Thompson, Arron Wyatt, Denise Kheen, Josh Thompson, Jamie Davis, Corin Thompson, Dean Thompson, Chris Walter, Bruce Tribolet, Troy Tribolet, Amy Tribolet, Lara Schrodi, George Noggle, Tony Noggle, Ed Mosier, Diane Alvarez and Teri Bagley; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and a stepsister, Rosalee Sholl of Oakwood, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by a son, Randy Thompson, one brother, Vernon Thompson, and two sisters, Ruth Priddy and Manota Edwards.
He was a lifetime member of the Zion Christian Union Church and had also attended Roselms Christian Church. He was a lifetime farmer in Jackson Township, Van Wert County, Ohio.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory, Van Wert. The Revs. Paul Miller and Mark McKay will officiate. Burial will be in Middle Creek Cemetery, Grover Hill. Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 7, 2010, at the funeral home.
