BELLEVILLE, Mich. - Mary Helen Mills, 89, of Belleville, Mich., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Oct. 2, 2012.
She was born on Nov. 2, 1922, in Convoy, Ohio, to the late John S. and Cora A. (Denig) Redinger.
Mary worked in food service most of her life and lived life to the fullest, spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed bowling, crocheting, traveling and occasional trips to the casino. Since moving to Belleville in 1946, Mrs. Mills has been a member of Trinity Episcopal Church. She was active in the Altar Guild, took pleasure in volunteering and through her passion for music she served as "Choir Mother" for the Junior Choir. She was also a member of the Senior Choir for many years.
She is survived by her children, Melvin (Barbara) Mills of Milan, Mich., Penny Mills, Bonnie (Richard) Martin and Judy (William) Settles, all of Belleville, Mich., and Frank (Karen) Mills of Brighton, Mich., also survived by ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews and several close friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis, in July of 2000, a sister and three brothers.
Visitation will be at David C. Brown Temporary Viewing Chapel in Belleville, Mich., on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Belleville, with the Rev. John R. Hagan officiating. Interment will be at Cadillac Memorial West in Westland, Mich.
