WAPAKONETA, Ohio — Ralph B. Greve, 92, of Wapakoneta, died at 10:33 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, at The Gardens, Wapakoneta.

He was born May 25, 1924, in Rhine, Ohio, the son of Louis and Cecelia (Schmerge) Greve, who preceded him in death. He married Norma M. Doseck, and she died Feb. 10, 1994. He later married Goldie Faye Weber, and she died Feb. 4, 2007.

Survivors include eight children, Larry (Diana) Greve of Van Wert, Ohio, Dennis (Patty) Greve of Wapakoneta, Patty (Roger) Mack of Wapakoneta, Doug (Nancy) Greve of Botkins, Ohio, Rick (Grace) Greve of Van Wert, Mike (Terri) Greve of North Port, Florida, Jeff (LeeAnn) Greve of Wapakoneta, and Greg (Kathy) Greve of Dayton, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Kay Greve, Botkins; 29 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; two siblings, Erma (Alfred) Steinke of Wapakoneta, Norbert (Phyllis) Greve of Wapakoneta, and a close friend, Norma Wannemacher of Ottoville.

He was preceded in death by his son, Randy Greve; a great-grandchild, Alexis Mack; two sisters, Berniece Wachauf and Rita Behr, and a brother, Wilbur Greve.

Ralph was a carpenter by trade and retired from Dorsten Construction, Minster. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Wapakoneta. He was also a social member of the V.F.W. Post 8445, and a member of the K of C, Council 1272, both of Wapakoneta. Ralph was a square dance caller with the “Crystal Blues” for 25 years. He also enjoyed building utility sheds. Ralph loved his friends at the V.F.W., where he would enjoy a cold beer, a good story and a heartfelt laugh on every visit.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2017, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Botkins, with the Rev. Patrick Sloneker officiating. Burial is to follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Botkins. The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, 1102 Lincoln Ave., (St. Rt. 501) Wapakoneta.
