DECATUR, Ind. – Ruth C. Koos, 99, of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on
Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Adams Woodcrest where she had resided since
1990. She was one of the original residents in the Woodcrest Villas.
was born on Oct. 4, 1917 in Blackcreek Township, Mercer County, Ohio,
the daughter of the late Emanuel Hurless and the late Nannie (Stetler)
Ruth was united in marriage with Beryl McChristy in
Covington, Kentucky in July of 1940 and he preceded her in death on June
7, 1945 while serving our country during WWII.
Ruth married her
second husband, Sherman R. Koos, on Nov. 4, 1950 in Fort Wayne, Indiana
and he preceded her in death on July 7, 1984.
Ruth was a member of
Union Chapel Methodist Church in Decatur, Union Chapel United Methodist
Women's Circle, and General Electric Retirees Quarter Century Club.
She retired from Decatur General Electric Corporation in 1977 with 34 years of service.
is survived by the children of her close friends, Joe and Marge
Schultz. Those children include Rosie Friedt & Barbara McNary both
of Decatur; Kathleen Muller of Westmont, Illinois; Joan Wolf of
Mainville, Ohio; Christine Touge of France; and Stephen Schultz of
Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. She is also survived by several nieces and

will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Woodcrest Chapel
with Pastor Ed Karges officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur
Cemetery. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at
Woodcrest on Saturday, March 18, 2017.
