The host Wildcats were the beneficiary of that, rallying from an 11-point deficit in the third period and wearing down the Mustangs 41-32 on Homecoming night in Northwest Conference action.

    NEW BREMEN — Things started out well for the Parkway Panthers as they traveled to Cardinal Stadium to take on the 2-2 New Bremen Cardinals, but soon the game went south. Ultimately, an inability to slow down the Cardinal rushing attack, and turnovers, the ugly problem that’s plagued Parkway all season, sent the Panthers home on the wrong end of a 34-20 score, dropping them to 1-3 on the season.

    VAN WERT — The Van Wert Cougars boys’ soccer team faced a tall task Thursday evening as they hosted the undefeated Kenton Wildcats. The Cougars, coming into the game at 1-7 on the season and 0-4 in the Western Buckeye League, looked to play the role of spoiler against the Wildcats, who entered the game ranked seventh in the state.

    MIDDLE POINT — On Thursday night, the weather was hot as Lincolnview took on Botkins in a Western Ohio Soccer League match outside of Middle Point. The Trojans’ Dalton Lane was even hotter. Lane came off the bench and scored teh first two Botkins goals in what became a 3-0 Trojan win.

The Flyers, led by senior Kara Evers and junior Aubrey Thobe, proved to be too much as they took the match in straight sets: 25-19, 25-14, and 25-19.

    HAVILAND — Two teams looking for their first win in Green Meadows Conference volleyball action squared off at Wayne Trace Tuesday night and it was the visiting Pilots of Ayersville that went home happy after sweeping past the Raiders in three games. Ayersville took game one 25-16 before the Pilots posted a 25-13 victory in the second set. The Raiders battled in game three but Ayersville eventually wrapped up the match with a 25-21 win.
