    CONVOY - When two ten-win teams meet in a cross-county, non-conference rivalry match - there’s no doubt it’s going to be a good one. 

    The volleyball contest between the Van Wert Lady Cougars and the Crestview Lady Knights was no exception at Ray Etzler Gymnasium Monday evening, with the Lady Knights squeezing out a close, 3-1 victory (25-15, 13-25, 25-21, 25-23).

    VANWERT-The Van Wert Lady Cougars welcomed Western Buckeye League foe the Celina Bulldogs to Van Wert High School for a big week for the Lady Cougars in girls high school soccer on Monday night. The Lady Bulldogs used a big first half to get a 10-0 victory over the Lady Cougars.

    VAN WERT - It’s quite a spectacle, the Van Wert Hospital Cross Country Invitational. Colorful canopies in team colors dot the field, providing shade for the runners. Twenty-seven schools participated Saturday morning, and hundreds of followers fanned out over the field, the first reservoir, and Hiestand Woods Park to view the action.

    VAN WERT — The Van Wert volleyball team picked up a pair of victories on Saturday to move to 10-2 on the season as the Lady Cougars got past Wayne Trace and Bryan. 
  • Knights overcome second-half deficit, outlast Bluffton

    CONVOY — With 6:22 to play in the first half, the host Crestview Knights held a 21-point lead on Bluffton. Before the end of the third quarter, the Pirates had come all the way back to take the lead, but Crestview’s punishing ground attack and a timely interception by sophomore Dylan Grandstaff propelled the Knights to a 41-31 Northwest Conference win. 
  • Kenton aerial attack too much for Cougars in 46-7 loss

    KENTON- The Van Wert Cougars made the long trip to Kenton High School on Friday night to take on the Wildcats in Western Buckeye League action but were unable to follow up on last week’s victory as they fell, 46-7.

    DELPHOS — Jefferson needed about a quarter to stop shooting itself in the foot versus Allen East in Northwest Conference action under the lights of Stadium Park on Friday night.

    Once the Wildcats did, they rolled up a dominant 49-0 shutout.
