  • T-birds knock off Jefferson
    Friday, April 29, 2016 11:47 PM
DELPHOS — Lima Central Catholic used a 5-run second inning to gain command of a game played at Wildcat Field in Delphos on Friday night. Because of field conditions at LCC, the T-bird were the home team at Delphos Jefferson, and claimed a 7-3 victory.

The Jeffcats couldn’t have asked for a better start, as Damien Dudgeon led off with a single. He scored on Jacob Pulford’s 2-out single, and Tyler Schrieder worked around a 2-out hit in the home half.

Things fells apart for the Wildcats in the bottom of the second, however. A walk and a single, one either end of a strikeout, opened the inning, with the T-bird’s tying the score. A hit batter put two runners on, and LCC took the lead on a run-scoring double. Schrider got a pop up for the second out, but three straight T-birds reached on walks before Schrider’s day on the mound was done.

Dudgeon spurred a Wildcat uprising in the third, a he reached on an error, then stole second. Dudgeon raced around to score on Jace Stockwell’s double to deep right center, and he wound up scoring on Schrieder’s base hit.

That was as close as Jefferson would get, however. The Wildcats fall to 5-14 on the year while LCC moves to 8-9.
