OAK HARBOR - The Van Wert Cougar wrestling team opened its season Saturday at the always-tough Oak Harbor Invitational, and came away with a seventh-place finish overall.

The high point of the day for the Cougars came when senior Terrin Contreras took first place in the 285-pound weight class.

Gabe Hill places second in the 195-pound weight class for Van Wert. He went 3-1 with three pins in the tournament.

Three Cougars placed fourth in their respective weight classes: Seniors Daniel Thompson (160-pound; 2-2, 1 pin), Colten Royer (170-pound; 2-2 1 pin), and Jordan Daniels (182-pound; 2-2, 2 pins).

Zach Thomas also placed for the team, taking fifth in the 220-pound weight class with a 1-2 record.

Also competing for the Cougars were Andy Hammond (126-pound, 0-4), Jacob Crisenbery (138-pound, 0-3), Ouinton Rutkowski (145-pound, 0-4), and Ryan Stoller (152-pound, 0-2).
