Van Wert’s boys bowling team broke a pair of school records during a 2,968-2,395 win over Parkway in a West Ohio High School Bowling Conference match on Saturday afternoon.

The Cougars (4-3, 3-1 WOHSBC) rolled a game of 1169 in their second game against the Panthers, breaking a previous best team score of 1160. In the final of five Baker games, Van Wert’s keglers combined for a 265, besting their previous mark of 256.

Individual scores were outstanding across the board, with Nathan Bidlack’s 268 topping the team. Colton Deschner added a 194 to his 259 to average better than 226 for his 2-game series. Caleb Fetzer rolled a 184-242 while Cole Buckner added a 214-190 and Evan Goodwin went 184-210 for the Cougars. Gabe Rollins rounded out the competitors with a single game of 141.

Parkway (2-4, 1-3 WOHSBC) was paced by a strong series from Cody Gaham, who broke the 200-mark in each game (218-210). Coby Jones added a 210 game for the Panthers as well.

Both Parkway and Van Wert suffered losses during the morning shift in girls matches. The Lady Panthers fell to Shawnee by a 2,823-2,076 final and Van Wert lost to Lima Senior 2,466-2,165.

Cloey Spry topped the Lady Cougars with a 181-187 series while Allison Hauter added a single-game score of 163. Parkway was paced by a huge 253-203 series from Alexis Frank and a 174 game from Chanel Walls, but Shawnee was too strong.

Van Wert returns to Western Buckeye League play when the male and female Cougars host Defiance on Monday afternoon at Olympic Lanes.
