VAN WERT — The Van Wert High School swim team held its end of the season awards banquet with refreshments and a ceremony. Head coach Megan Hurless, along with assistant coaches Martha Martin and Keith Rydell, honored five senior Cougars: Olivia Mengerink, Olivia Profit, Bethany Fast, Peyton Fleming and Sam Easley.

Thirteen swimmers and divers maintained a 3.0 grade point average during the season and received Scholar Athlete awards: Brayden Cox, Sam Easley, Madison Jarrett, Dalton Heppeard, Katie McVaigh, Bethany Fast, Rebekah Fast, Peyton Fleming, Andrew Hamblett, Olivia Profit, Olivia Mengerink, Madison Turnwald and Emma Verville.

Varsity letters were also presented. First year varsity letter winners include Katie McVaigh, Olivia Profit, Andrew Hamblett, and Brayden Cox. Second year varsity letter winners are Dalton Heppeard, Rebekah Fast, Madison Jarett, Emma Verville, and Noah Arend. Madison Turnwald earned her third year varsity letter, with seniors Bethany Fast and Peyton Fleming earning a varsity letter during all four years of their VWHS swimming career.

Participation awards were given to swimmers Sam Easley and Olivia Mengerink.
