Three points from Ally McCoy forced a Hicksville timeout with 6:42 left in the fourth quarter with Crestview up 54-39.

“Ally McCoy did a great job inside battling on defense but also on the offense today. Lexi came in off the bench and did a good job taking care of the basketball. At the same time, she was guarding Taylor for Hicksville so I was asking a lot of her to guard Taylor after Lyvia (Black) got in foul trouble,” Crestview head coach Mark Gregory said. ” I’m proud of our overall effort; I could go down the list of girls and every one of the girls gave us something positive today.”

The Lady Aces closed the gap a little bit with two foul shots from Berenyi and a 3-pointer from Taylor to bring the score to 58-46, Crestview.

With the Knights up 62-46 late in the fourth quarter, Hicksville waved the white flag in the form of the mass sub of JV players followed by the same for Crestview.

With the Lady Aces down a starter a lot was put on the shoulders of Taylor who scored 24 of the teams 50 points. The Lady Knights were able to match the scoring of Taylor with one of their own in the form of Paige Motycka, who scored a team-high 21 points, but also saw contribution from Gregory with 15 points and Ally McCoy with 11.

“Last night we played Ada and went 10 for 20 from beyond the arc, but today (5-for-23) was a different story, so I told them at halftime that we were going to have to attack the basket,” Coach Gregory said. “The nice thing about that was we were attacking the offensive boards today, which led to some put back baskets and that is really Ally McCoy and Paige Motycka’s niche, crashing the boards and getting second chance points.”

Crestview improves to 6-4 on the season and Hicksville drops to 7-4 on the year.
