Area high school volleyball teams learned who their second season opponents are on Sunday, as sectional draws were held around the state of Ohio.
In Division II at Lima Senior, Van Wert garnered a second seed behind top-seeded Celina in the all-Western Buckeye League sectional.
On October 16, the Lady Cougars (10-8) will battle Wapakoneta (10-8) in the 6 p.m. contest before St. Marys (6-14) takes on Defiance (8-11). The two winners return on October 20 for a 6 p.m. championship.
In the bottom half of the lower bracket, Lima Bath (7-13) plays Celina (11-9) while Lima Shawnee (6-13) tangles with Elida (9-11) in the two matches on October 17. Those two victors will come back on October 20 for a 7:15 p.m. sectional-title tilt.
Division III action at Lincolnview will have Paulding and Wayne Trace both battling in semi-final action on October 16.
In the opener that night, New Bremen (11-9) takes on Paulding (6-14) with the winner returning on October 20 to take on top-seeded Lima Central Catholic (18-2) at 6 p.m.
The nightcap on Tuesday will have Coldwater (13-7) tangling with Wayne Trace (8-10), while Fairview (12-8) awaits the winner in the 7:15 p.m. match on Saturday.
Three area squads will participate in the Division IV sectional at Ottoville.
In the only game on Tuesday, October 16, Crestview will play Delphos Jefferson at 7:15 p.m. Kalida awaits the winner of the Crestview-Jefferson match for a sectional-championship tilt at 6 p.m. on October 20.
Continental and Columbus Grove will open action on October 17 while Cory Rawson plays Delphos St. John's in the nightcap. The two winners from those matches return to play in the sectional title match on October 20 at 7:15 p.m.
The toughest sectional in the state may take place in Division IV at Coldwater as six Midwest Athletic Conference and one Northwest Conference squad battle it out for the right to advance.
On October 16, Minster (10-9) and Fort Recovery (6-12) will battle at 6 p.m. for the right to play top-seeded Marion Local (16-3) at 6 p.m. on October 20.
In the lower bracket, St. Henry (16-3) plays Spencerville (5-15) while New Knoxville (14-5) tangles with Parkway (8-11) in the two matches on October 17. The two winners will return to tangle on October 20 at 7:15 p.m.
