MINSTER - The Cougar boys bowlers took to the lanes against the Minster Wildcats on Saturday at the Community Lanes in Minster. Van Wert took a commanding lead right from the beginning with a 304-pin advantage in the first regular game. After that, the Cougars continued to add to the pin count, beating the Wildcats by 606 pins on the day, 2924-2318. High scores for the Cougars were: seniors - Jordan Dettrow 269, Chris Thatcher 232, Nate Simson 225 & 200 and junior Trent Metzger 221 & 182. Other high scores on the day were: Toby James-Coldwater 278 & 261, Anthony Kennard-Wapak 256 & 191 and Kevin Dammeyer- St. Marys 254 & 236. With the win, the Cougars remain undefeated at 4-0 for the season. Van Wert will next roll in Celina at Plaza Lanes on Thursday against Parkway.

The Parkway boys took on Wapakoneta on Saturday but fell, 2,958-2,600. Jeremy Tribolet led the way for the Panthers with a 232 while Bryce Bedwell had a 216 and Vincent Rodriguez a 193. Parkway is now 2-2 on the year.

In the second shift, the Lady Cougars rolled against the Celina Bulldogs in a tight match. In the first regular game, the ladies matched scores and were tied. In the second game, the Bulldogs took the lead by 86 pins and that ended up to be the turning point of the match. In the Baker games, the Cougars edged the Bulldogs by 40 pins, but it was not enough to over come the second game, losing the match by 46 pins, 2367-2413. High scores for the Cougars were: seniors - Tyler Metzger 187 & 163, Taylor Beair 183 & 181 and junior Rachel Dettrow 170. The Cougars drop to 1-3 on the season with the Bulldogs moving to 3-1. Thursday, the Lady Cougars will roll against the St. Mary's Roughriders (4-0) in Celina at Plaza Lanes.

The Parkway girls had the tough assignment of taking on Minster on their homes lanes and they lost, 2,130-1,969. With the loss, the Panthers go to 0-3 on the year. Parkway will next take on Celina.
