VAN WERT – Judge Martin Burchfield heard the following cases in the Van Wert County Court of Common Pleas:

Friday, Feb. 16, 2018


Jurode Jordan, 31, Dayton, entered a not guilty plea to forgery, F5. His bond was set at $10,000 cash or commercial surety and set pretrial was set for March 2, 2018, at 8:30 a.m.


Jeremy Whitaker, 38, Delphos, admitted to violating his bond by failing to report to probation and failing to report for drug screens. His case was set for further hearing on Feb. 20, 2018 at 9:30 a.m.

Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018


Lora Bower, 45, Lancaster, entered a not guilty plea to aggravated possession of drugs, F5. She was released on a surety bond with pretrial set for March 7, 2018 at 8 a.m.


Jeremy Whitaker, 38, Delphos, changed his plea to guilty to assault, F4. The court ordered a pre-sentence investigation and set sentencing for March 28, 2018 at 9 a.m.

Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018


Chad Fisher, 41, Van Wert, was charged with possession of cocaine, F5. He sentenced to 3 years community control, 200 hours community service, substance abuse assessment and treatment, 2 years intensive probation, and 30 days jail at a later date. He was ordered to pay partial appointed attorney fees, monthly probation fee, and costs.

John Ashbaugh, 45, Van Wert, was charged with trafficking drugs, F5, trafficking marijuana, F5, and aggravated trafficking drugs, F3. He was sentenced to 11 months of prison for trafficking of drugs, 11 months of prison for trafficking of marijuana, and 24 months of prison for aggravated trafficking of drugs all concurrent. He was given credit for one day served and ordered to pay court costs.
