VAN WERT – The following cases were seen in the Van Wert Court of Common Pleas by Judge Martin Burchfield:

FRIDAY, MARCH 8, 2019

ARRAIGNMENT

Jason Allen, 45, Middle Point, entered not guilty pleas to four counts of felonious assault, F2, four counts of obstructing official business (creating a risk of harm to four sheriff’s deputies), F5, failure to comply (fleeing) F4, two counts of ethnic intimidation, F5, and OVI, M1. He was released on a surety bond with an order to have no contact with victims and pretrial was set for April 9, 2019, at 8 a.m.

CHANGE OF PLEA

Ryan Churchwell, 42, Van Wert, changed his plea to guilty to theft, M1. Companion charges were dismissed for his plea. He was released on surety bond. The Court set sentencing for March 27, 2019, at 9 a.m.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 13, 2019

ARRAIGNMENTS (ALL ENTERED NOT GUILTY PLEAS)

Christopher Knuth, 34, Middle Point, failed to provide notice of change of address, F5. Bond was set at $10,000 cash or commercial surety and pretrial was set for March 27, 2019, 8 a.m.

Timothy Lakey, 36, Van Wert, was arraigned for domestic violence, F4, Bond was set at $10,000 cash or commercial surety and pretrial was set for March 27, 2019, at 10 a.m.

Terry Sites, 48, Van Wert, was arraigned for domestic violence, F4, and released on surety bond with an order to have no contact with the victim. Pretrial was set for March 27, 2019, at 8 a.m.

Henry Lopez Carrera, 19, Des Moines, Iowa, was arraigned for receiving stolen property, F5 (two counts counts) and driving under suspension, M1. He was released on a surety bond with waiver extradition and pretrial set for April 17, 2019, at 8 a.m.

Colby Black, 35, Ohio City, was arraigned for trespass in habitation, F4. Bond was set at $25,000 cash or commercial surety with an order to have no contact with victim and set pretrial was set for March 27, 2019, at 8 a.m.

Stephen Davies, 39, Van Wert, was arraigned for possession of cocaine, F5, retaliation, F3, and assault M1. He was released on surety bond with order to have no contact with victim. Pretrial was set for April 17, 2019, 8 a.m.

Jenifer Lynnsey Jane Davis, 23, Van Wert, was arraigned for unauthorized use of motor vehicle, F5. She was released on surety bond with pretrial set for March 27, 2019, at 8 a.m.

TIME WAIVER

Damian White, 29, Lima, signed a time waiver in open court and requested additional time to prepare his case. Pretrial was set for April 17, 2019, at 8 a.m.

SENTENCING

Jennifer Wilder, 44, Van Wert, was sentenced for theft, F5. She was sentenced to three years community control, 30 days jail at later date, 200 hours community service, substance abuse assessment and treatment ( to be held in jail until assessment completed), ordered to have no contact with victim, two years intensive probation, ordered to pay partial appointed counsel fees, monthly probation fee, court costs, and restitution of $214.90 to the victim, $187.90 to a business, and $20 to a second business.

Michael Protsman, 53, Van Wert, was sentenced for aggravated trafficking drugs, F4. He was sentenced to 15 months prison, credit for 26 days served, and ordered to pay court costs.

VIOLATIONS

Sean Ramos, 25, Van Wert, admitted to violating his bond and his treatment in lieu program by failing to report to probation, failing to report for drug tests, and failing to report for treatment. Bond was set at $50,000 cash or commercial surety and sentencing was set for April 24, 2019, after preparation of pre-sentence investigation.

CHANGE OF PLEA

Connor Townsend-Elliot, 20, Middle Point, changed his plea to guilty to attempting to corrupt another with drugs, F5, and placing a harmful substance in food, M1. The defendant then requested and was granted intervention in lieu of conviction and his case was stayed pending completion of the treatment program.
