VAN WERT – Area law enforcement reports for 2/2 through 2/21

Van Wert City Police reports

2/14 12:23 a.m.

Robert E. Thompson, 34, of Van Wert, was arrested in the 1100 block of North Washington Street for an outstanding felony warrant out of the Sheriff’s Office.

2/14 2:40 a.m.

Cole Michael Bennett, 22, of Van Wert, was arrested for disorderly conduct after a complaint was made about fighting at a residence in the 100 block of Blaine Street. After an investigation of the fight, Andrew H. Krogman, 19, of Van Wert, was arrested for possession of marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia.

2/15 5:49 p.m.

Milo B. Holt Jr., 19, of Van Wert,was arrested for domestic violence stemming from an incident that took place at Quail Run Apartments.

Keli L. Pontius, 31, of Van Wert, was taken into custody at Van Wert Municipal Court for a probation violation.

2/18 12:10 a.m.

Mitchell A. Stauffer, 26, of Van Wert, was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

2/19 8:29 p.m.

Justin Leon Reyes, 23, of Van Wert, was charged with telecommunications harassment stemming from an incident in the 600 block of North Franklin Street.

2/20 10:04 p.m.

Samantha L. Jackson, 26, of Van Wert, was charged with failure to register a canine and failure to confine an animal.

Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office reports

2/2 8:18 a.m.

Whitley Rene Poe, 28, of Van Wert, was issued a citation for failure to control and OVI following a rollover accident on US 30 east of Boroff Road.

2/4 7:41 p.m.

Brent A. Perl, 38, of Convoy, was arrested for domestic violence.

Delphos City Police reports

On 2-15-2018 officers proceeded to the 1100 block of N. Main St, with water department officials to investigate a possible Theft of water services. Officers met with the homeowner and inspected the water meter and equipment. It was determined that water had been illegally turned on. The report will be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for review of charges.

On 2-16-2018 officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of N. Canal St, to investigate a fight incident. Officers met with several subjects that had been involved in the altercation. Most of those involved were intoxicated and had different accounts of the incident. The report was forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for review of charges.

On 2-16-2018 officers met with a male at the Delphos Police Department who wished to report what he believed to be stalking by multiple people. The male appeared to be highly agitated and left the department after making his complaint. Officers were dispatched to the male’s residence a short time later to do a welfare check on him. Officers arrived and located the male leaving in his vehicle. A traffic stop was initiated and officers made contact with the male. While speaking with the him, officers observed multiple firearms in the vehicle. One of the firearms was being transported, illegally, with fully loaded magazines. The male, 48 year old Brian Stepleton, of Delphos faces charges of Improper Handling of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle. He was transported to the Allen County Jail on the felony charge.

On 2-17-2018 officers met with a female at the police department in reference to a scam incident. The female told officers that she received a call from a male claiming to be her grandson. The male told her that he was in trouble and needed thousands of dollars for legal expenses. The female complied and sent a large amount of money through eBay gift cards as she was instructed to do. The female later found that her grandson was not in trouble and that she had been scammed. The report was forwarded to the Detective Bureau for further investigation.

On 2-17-2018 officers met with a female at the police department who reported that she was assaulted. The female claimed that a male whom she works with assaulted her while they were leaving work. The incident remains under investigation.

On 2-18-2018 officers were sent to the 900 block of E. 2nd St, in reference to an ongoing issue with a neighbor. Officers arrived and spoke with the complainant. He advised officers that his elderly neighbor is continually coming to his residence accusing him of stealing. It was determined that nothing was stolen and that the elderly male is suffering from mental illness. He was advised not to return to the neighbor’s residence and family members were contacted.

On 2-18-2018 officers were dispatched to the 700 block of S. Main St, for a possible Domestic Violence Incident. Officers arrived and spoke with multiple family members who witnessed the incident. Officers found that a juvenile at the residence was the primary aggressor and had made threats of violence as well. He was taken into custody and transported to the Allen County Juvenile Detention Center.

On 2-19-2018 officers responded to a business in the 200 block of Elida Rd. to investigate a Theft incident. Officers found that items were stolen from the business and received video surveillance of the incident. Officers made contact with the female suspected of the theft and located the items that were taken. The female, 29 year old Ashley Cottrill, of Delphos, was issued a summons to appear in Lima Municipal Court to face the charge of Theft.

On 2-21-2018 officers were dispatched to the 600 block of S. Main St, to locate a male that had a warrant out of Allen County for contempt of court. Officers arrived and located the male, 36 year old Paul Crichfield of Delphos. Crichfield attempted to flee from officers and after a brief physical altercation he was taken into custody. He as transported to jail on the outstanding warrant and will face an additional charge of Resisting Arrest.
