DELPHOS – On Nov. 13 around 5 p.m. Delphos City Schools were made aware of a possible threat being made over social media in reference to a Delphos middle school student possibly committing an act of violence directed at Delphos Jefferson Middle School. The potential threat was discovered by the FBI which notified Delphos Police Department and they notified Delphos City Schools Administration.

The threat was not found to be credible. Delphos Administration worked with Delphos Police Department to start an investigation.

After the Delphos Police Department met with the student and assessed the home, they came to the conclusion that this was not a credible claim. The parent stated there was no access to weapons at home and the police confirmed this.

After talking to the Delphos Police Chief about his investigation, Delphos City Schools made the decision to not delay the start of school or to close the school. However, there will be a police presence at the middle school.

Due to the fact that this is still under investigation, Delphos City Schools will have no further comment. All questions should be directed to the Delphos Police Department.
