SUGAR CREEK TOWNSHIP – On June 20, 2019 at approximately 4:42 p.m., the Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, responded to a report of an aircraft crash. A crashed aircraft was reported to be visible in a field near the intersection of Tudor Road and Sandy Point Road in Allen County, Ohio.

Upon further investigation, the aircraft was identified as a 1981 Beechcraft A36 Bonanza. The Beechcraft A36 Bonanza is a single engine, fixed-wing aircraft. The aircraft was found to have been registered to Stevann Farms LLC., located in Bellevue, Iowa.

On June 20, 2019, two unidentified victims were declared deceased by the Allen County, Ohio Coroner’s Office. On that date, both unidentified victims were transported by the Allen County Coroner’s Office to the Lucas County, Ohio Coroner’s Office for further investigation.

On June 25, 2019, the Allen County Coroner’s Office published a press release, which established the identification of the two deceased victims. According to that press release, the pilot was identified as 65-year-old Steven D. Niemann of Bellevue, Iowa. Furthermore, the passenger was identified as 50-year-old Tracey A. Harttnett also of Bellevue, Iowa.

Also assisting at the scene, was the Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Cairo-Monroe Fire Department, and Cairo-Monroe EMS. This crash remains under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration and The National Transportation Safety Board.
