ROCKFORD –  On Nov. 27 around 10:02 a.m., the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from 210 W. Pearl St. in Rockford. The caller stated that her husband was going to hurt himself with a firearm. Rockford Police Chief Paul May responded to the area and a safety perimeter was established with help from Mercer County Sheriff Deputies and Celina Police Officers.

Dispatchers then made contact via phone with the adult male at the residence and were able to get him to come outside. Officers then spoke to him and resolved the issue peacefully. Because a firearm was mentioned in the 911 call, officers took extra precautions, but in this case, no firearms were displayed or used.

The male was transported to Mercer Health for evaluation. The incident will be sent for review of charges and no names will be released at this time.
