CELINA — Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey reported that the Grand Lake Task Force and HIT Team (which consist of law enforcement deputies/officers from Mercer and Auglaize County Sheriff’s offices, Celina Police Department, and Coldwater Police Department), made several arrests Monday.

At approximately 12:34 p.m., deputies witnessed Jason E. Niemeyer, age 39, enter his residence at 608 N. Walnut St., Celina, Ohio. Knowing there was a warrant for his arrest for drug trafficking, (resulting from tips from the community), deputies made contact with Niemeyer. While there, deputies witnessed the presence of suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia and applied for and were granted a search warrant for the residence. In the execution and search of the residence, suspected drugs, drug paraphernalia and cash was seized.

Also arrested at the residence was Wesley W. Elam, age 26, for a parole violation.

At approximately 11:17 a.m., during a traffic stop on Wayne Street in the city of Celina, officers arrested Casey W. Hammond, age 35, for a warrant for contempt of court, original charge of nonsupport through Celina Municipal Court. After Mercer County K-9, Franko alerted to the present of narcotics in the vehicle, a passenger, Adam L. Cornett, age 37, was arrested for the possession of drug abuse instruments, being a syringe.

Sheriff Grey reminds citizens to continue to call with drug tips. He reminds citizens that tips are received and worked on a continued basis and those tips have assisted in the arrest of drug users and traffickers. Grey stated that his office along with other agencies that are part of the Grand Lake Task Force and the HIT Team will continue their fight to rid the community of drug issues.
