VAN WERT – The following cases were heard in the Van Wert Court of Common Pleas:

Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018

ARRAIGNMENT

Greg Glander, 35, Van Wert, entered a not guilty plea to a charge of aggravated possession of drugs, F5. He was released on a surety bond with pretrial set for Feb. 21, 2018 at 8 a.m.

Friday, Feb. 9, 2018

ARRAIGNMENT

Spencer Davis, 26, Van Wert, was arraigned for theft of drugs, F4, and two counts of grand theft-firearm, F3. Defendant entered a not guilty plea and was released on a surety bond with pretrial set for March 7, 2018 at 8 a.m.

BOND VIOLATIONS

Levi Strawser, 27, Fort Wayne, admitted to violating his treatment in lieu program by failing to pay court costs. He was sentenced to 180 days jail on each of the two original charges (theft and forgery, both F5), concurrent, and also concurrent with the Indiana prison sentence that he is currently serving.

Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018

ARRAIGNMENTS

Kasey Schisler, 29, Van Wert, entered a not guilty plea to theft from the elderly, F5. He was released on a surety bond and pretrial was set for March 7, 2018 at 8 a.m.

Robert Thompson, 34, Van Wert, entered a not guilty plea to two counts of aggravated possession of drugs, F5. He was released on a surety bond and pretrial set for Feb. 28, 2018 at 8 a.m.

TIME WAIVER

Kevin Linton, 30, Convoy, signed a time waiver in open Court and requested additional time to prepare his case.

Norman Foertch, Jr. 49, Convoy, signed a time waiver in open Court and requested additional time to prepare his case.

CHANGES OF PLEAS

Chelsea Bok, 27, Van Wert, changed her plea to guilty to illegal possession of chemicals for the manufacturing of drugs, F3 (reduced from F2). The Court ordered a pre-sentence investigation and set sentencing for March 28, 2018 at 9 a.m.

RE-SENTENCING

Tawnie Johnson, 28, Van Wert, appeared for re-sentencing as she was found to be not eligible for WORTH Center due to charges pending in Allen County, Ohio. She was re-sentenced to 3 years community control under same conditions, plus 120 days jail beginning today with credit for 53 days served.

VIOLATIONS

Carl Elston, 38, Van Wert, admitted to violating his probation by failing to report to probation. He was sentenced to 148 days jail with credit for 58 days served.

William Estle, 31, Delphos, admitted to violating his probation by failing to report to probation. He was sentenced to 60 days jail.

Jared Smith, 29, Van Wert, admitted to violating his probation by failing to provide an address to probation and by using a banned substance. He was sentenced to 90 days of electronic house arrest beginning Feb. 19, 2018, and jail until house arrest begins.

Eric Bowers, 31, Van Wert, admitted to violating his bond by failing a drug test. He was releases on electronic house arrest with drug testing.

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 13, 2018

Matthew Brown, 56, Van Wert, filed for lifting of restrictions preventing him from obtaining a driver’s license. Following a hearing, the Court granted his request.

Taylor Vannett, 19, Van Wert, admitted violating his probation by failing a drug test and by failing to appear for other drug tests. He was re-sentenced to 5 years community control with 11 more days in jail, intensive probation, live at 515 S. Wayne, Van Wert, with no contact with co-defendants, house arrest, ordered not leave home unless with parents or moving directly to or from job interviews or jobs. Restitution payments must start 6 weeks after release from jail.
