VAN WERT – The following cases were seen in the Van Wert Court of Common Pleas by Judge Martin Burchfield:

FRIDAY, JANUARY 3, 2020

BOND VIOLATION

Justin Reilly, 37, Van Wert, admitted violating his bond by failing to appear at a court hearing. The new bond was set at $10,000 cash or commercial surety and a pretrial was set for Jan. 8 at 8 a.m.

TUESDAY, JANUARY 7, 2020

TIME WAIVER

Tate Arnold, 38, Van Wert, entered a time waiver in open court for both of his pending cases and requested additional time to prepare his cases. A pretrial was set for Feb. 12 at 8 a.m.

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 8, 2020

CHANGES OF PLEAS

Daniel Craig, 38, Van Wert, changed his plea to guilty to domestic violence, F4, and assault, M1. The Court ordered a pre-sentence investigation and set sentencing for Feb. 19 at 9 a.m. The defendant’s bond was changed to a surety bond on condition of no contact with victims.

Korbin Taylor, 21, Van Wert, changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of heroin, F5, and also entered a guilty plea to a prosecutor’s bill of information charging him with aggravated assault, F4. The Court ordered a pre-sentence investigation and set sentencing for Feb. 19 at 9 a.m. The defendant’s bond was changed to a surety bond on condition of no contact with victims.

SENTENCING

Curtis Coleman, 49, Van Wert, was sentenced on a charge of aggravated possession of drugs, F3. He was sentenced to 24 months prison with credit for three days served. The $492 used in the crime was forfeited to the Van Wert Police Department fund.

PROBATION VIOLATION

Jared Shaffer, 20, Van Wert, admitted to violating his probation by failing to complete drug treatment. He was sentenced to 120 days jail, with credit for 29 days served, and terminated unsuccessfully from community control.

BILL OF INFORMATION

Tristan Wehner, 19, Van Wert, entered a plea of guilty to a prosecutor’s bill of information charging him with sexual battery, F3, tampering with evidence, F3, and two counts of extortion, F3. He was released on a surety bond with electronic house arrest. The Court ordered a pre-sentence investigation and set sentencing for Feb. 18 at 3 p.m.
