VAN WERT – A Willshire man was sentenced to 18 months prison by Judge Martin Burchfield during Wednesday's Van Wert Common Pleas Court activity.

Tim Dellinger, 57, of Willshire, was charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, a felony of the third degree, after he was involved in a crash that left one dead on April 29, 2018. Dellinger was given credit for five days already served and ordered to pay court costs in addition to his prison sentence.

According to the Van Wert County Sheriff Department, Dellinger was driving a 2012 Lincoln MKZ when the vehicle went off the right side of the road, came back onto the road and over-corrected, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and go into a ditch. The vehicle came to a rest in a field and sustained heavy damage.

A passenger in the Lincoln, Christina Dellinger, age 54 of Willshire, sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident occurred after 7 p.m. on State Route 81 between Willshire Eastern Hoard and Harrison Willshire Road.

According to a report, both the driver and passenger were not believed to have been wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, and alcohol was believed to be a factor in the crash.

CHANGE OF PLEA

Vicki Young, 64, Van Wert, changed her plea to guilty to two counts of aggravated trafficking drugs, F4 (both reduced by prosecutors from F3). The Court ordered a pre-sentence investigation and set sentencing for Feb. 6, 2019, at 9 a.m.

Justin Reynolds, 28, Van Wert, changed his plea to guilty to attempted escape, F4 (amended by prosecutors from escape, F3). The Court ordered a pre-sentence investigation and set sentencing for Feb. 13, 2019, at 9:30 a.m.

Patrick Dennis, Jr., 25, Detroit, Michigan, changed his plea to guilty to grand theft motor vehicle, F4. The Court ordered a pre-sentence investigation and set sentencing for Feb. 13, 2019, at 9:30 a.m.

VIOLATIONS

Courtney Pratt, 25, Van Wert, admitted to violating her probation by refusing treatment at Serenity House. Sentenced to 4 years community control from today, same conditions, plus substance abuse and mental health evaluations and treatment, 60 days jail from today, additional 30 days jail at later date.

SENTENCINGS

Brandon Decker, 21, Van Wert, was sentenced for aggravated trafficking drugs, F3 and aggravated assault, F4. He was sentenced to 18 months prison on the drug charge with credit for 107 days served, 12 months prison on assault charge with credit for 112 days served. Prison terms are to be served consecutively. He was ordered to pay court costs.
