Redeem tickets for memories

    It’s a busy life. We rush about here and there with hearts filled with purpose and minds filled with task lists. At long last, the calendar page is turned and we find ourselves in the month of November wondering how the year escaped so quickly. Thoughts immediately turn to family time. It is compelling to redeem the last of the year by devoting time with those we do life with but in our haste, forget to savor moments with. Alas, the holiday season arrives just in time to give a thankful pause and allow for memory-making moments that will close out the last chapters of 2019.

  • County Museum gets 3 cameras

    On Sunday, Nov. 3, the Van Wert County Historical Museum gained three additional film cameras for their photography exhibit. The cameras came from the Van Wert Photography Club’s collection. Museum Trustee Larry Webb selected a Peerless sliding box camera produced from 1887-94 by the Rochester Optical Company in Rochester, New York, an Argus C3 rangefinder camera produced from 1933-66 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and a Mamiya C3 Professional twin-lens reflex medium-format camera made from 1962-65 in Japan.

  • Dental Center holds open house

    VAN WERT — The Dental Center of Northwest Ohio, the Van Wert Smiles Office, is located in the Van Wert Health Center, 140 Fox Road, at Suite 207. The center, which is a non-profit organization and considered a safety-net clinic, offers a variety of dental services. It accepts private insurance and state Medicaid, as well as self pay patients. On Friday, it celebrated its fourth anniversary in Van Wert with an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony.

    COLUMBUS — The three-person team of Kenneth Ramsier of Rittman, Owen Greene of Jackson, and Korey Oechsle of Van Wert took home first place at the Ohio Dairy Challenge, held on Nov. 1-2 at Mills Dairy Farm in Hayesville, Ohio.
  • CERT Quarterless Auction set for Monday

    VAN WERT – Join the CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) Monday, Nov. 18 at the Moose Lodge for their fundraiser to raise money to assist families in need after a house fire or disaster. The money will also assist Emergency Responders with hydration and food on an emergency scene.

    VAN WERT — Van Wert Lodge 1197, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks held their annual Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019, at the Goedde Building, Van Wert City Schools in Van Wert. The contest was open to all boys and girls, ages 8 through 13 and the boys and girls competed separately in their age class. All participants shoot 25 free throw shots to compete.
