    VAN WERT — The Cougars fought valiantly but at the end of the night, the hole that was created by moments of sloppy play did them in as they lost their Western Buckeye League opener Friday night against Wapak 58-50.
  • Practicing fire safety is vital in winter months
    VAN WERT – While fire safety is essential throughout the year, many fire departments see an increase of fires during the winter months. Van Wert Fire Chief Jon Jones said several common household items can cause winter fires, including candles, which cause more than one-third of home decoration fires throughout the year.
  • Latta to host one-on-one meetings in Van Wert
    BOWLING GREEN – Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) will be available for one-on-one meetings with constituents at the Van Wert County Commissioner’s Office in Van Wert on Monday, December 17. From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., residents can meet individually with Congressman Latta and discuss the issues that are most important to them and their families. Staff will also be available to assist with casework or help residents with any issues they may have with the federal government.
  • YWCA to host Christmas-themed yoga
    VAN WERT — YWCA of Van Wert County will be hosting a session of Christmas-themed yoga on Wednesday, Dec. 19, at 6:30 p.m. This event will be free and open to the public and one may register by calling 419-238-6639 or by emailing jmcclain@ywcavanwertcounty.org.

With perhaps one of the most stacked and controversial ballots of all time, dozens of different different former players have received a vote towards immortality in the baseball holy land.
  • Paula R. (Ulm) Noonan

    DELPHOS, Ohio — Paula R. (Ulm) Noonan, 61, of Delphos, died Thursday evening. She was born Jan. 17, 1957, in Lima, Ohio, to the late Roberta (Sheets) and Raymond Ulm. On Oct. 2, 1976, she married John A. Noonan.
