VAN WERT – Under the leadership of Middle School teacher Marie Markward and community volunteer Rachel Hoverman, the 6th-grade Cougar Leaders raised $250 to donate to the Humane Society Capital Campaign.

The civic-minded students sold “canes for canines” during the Christmas season.

Pictured above is Humane Society Vice President Franki Eggleston with lovable Reed as well as Humane Society board member Jeff Hood receiving a generous donation. The Humane Society is raising money for a new shelter on Fox Road and will be kicking off the campaign in a big way in March of 2020. Thanks again to our future community leaders in the 6th grade.
