VAN WERT — The United Way of Van Wert County recently revealed their final campaign total of $513,762. This is an all-time record campaign year for the United Way.

The highest campaign year was back in 2006 when they raised $505,110 under the direction of Jan Hoblet. Now under the leadership of Tisha Fast, Campaign Chairman, and the many volunteer board members the United Way was able to make a difference for 29 United Way agencies this year. United Way of Van Wert County 2018-19 Campaign Chair Tisha Fast shared, “The campaign focus this year was increased involvement from the community, stressing that small contributions from a larger number of people can have a tremendous impact. We wanted to increase community support of the United Way’s mission and develop a sense of ‘how do we fit’ and the response was overwhelming! Thank you from myself, the campaign committee and the Van Wert County United Way.”

The recent “Fiesta Fun Friday” reverse raffle event, which was held at Willow Bend on May 3, was a great success and was able to bring in nearly $12,000 to help surpass the goal of $500,000. The $1,000 grand prize winner was Kyle Smith.

Vicki Smith, United Way of Van Wert County Executive Director, shared, “The ability to reach the goal set has been a great accomplishment. We can say this is the largest campaign goal we have met. It has been a privilege to work with an amazing board, caring community and great individuals that give unconditionally.”
