New Year, new fun and cool things coming up. The Wassenberg Art Center is hard at work planning a great 2019 with new projects, exhibits, classes and activities. Stay tuned to see what is up as we finalize our journey for the upcoming year. Thank you to everyone who participated, contributed and supported the Wass in 2018. We truly are a fortunate community to have this legacy Charles Wassenberg gifted to our town almost 70 years ago. We look forward to bringing you another year of compelling engagement.

The Ohio Watercolor Society Exhibit opens this Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. The Ohio Watercolor Society is a dynamic and skilled group of painters from Ohio and surrounding states who create some of the best work in the country. Entrants often go on to the prestigious American Watercolor Society exhibit which tours nationally. This exhibit will be on view through Feb. 12 and follows normal exhibit hours.

Did you know our gift shop is open year-round? We will be adding more unique and artisan craft items throughout the year to grow the options to purchase one-of-a-kind, unique items, crafted by artisans in the area. There is always a need throughout the year to purchase for those special to us and to show them how much we care and find them unique by purchasing the same.

ArtNight is back in session, Thursday evenings 6–9 p.m. Do you play the piano, an instrument, or participate in a drum circle? Let us know, our stage is open! We will have new projects and events connected to our Thursday evenings.

Tuesday morning Watercolor class is back in session and is ongoing. Every Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. Openings are available.

Thanks to all who have helped with our Warm up the Ridge project! Thank you to Lee’s Ace Hardware for sourcing and arranging transport of approximately 75 space heaters, and all of you who donated to the largest coat-drive to date. Thanks to Thad Lichtensteiger and Brent Stevens for coordinating many of the local groups in our area to send pallets of warm clothing to Pine Ridge Reservation. It is our hope 2019 will be even better! If your organization would like a presentation on our connection to this remote area across the country, and the inherent need(s) there, give us a call. It’s a fascinating story and we’d love to share.
