VAN WERT — A 48-year-old Tennessee man was confirmed dead when his utility truck went off the right side of U.S. 224 northeast of Van Wert Friday afternoon.

The vehicle was westbound on 224 when it ran off the right side of the roadway causing the truck to roll over on the right side and slide into a telephone pole.

The driver, whose name has not been released pending notification of family members, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Scott Jarvis.

Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office received the call at 1:36 p.m. and was assisted at the scene by Scott Fire, Van Wert Fire, Ohio Department of Transportation and Brickner’s Funeral Home. The accident is still under investigation.
