To the editor,

I thought when I wrote this letter it would be a thank you to all of you but I want to tell my story. It’s 2 a.m., I am sitting here opening a stack of cards. I can’t sleep. My stomach is in knots. The pain I feel is unimaginable. I feel like I can’t put one foot in front of the other. Anxiety has set in. As I open these cards one by one the power, the prayers, the strength in those cards are so uplifting. Cards from people, some I don’t even know, telling me how they met our beautiful, kind Ryan. Maybe he waited on them at Bob Evans, danced with him, knew him from school or college, how he impacted their lives.

I can not tell you enough what a comfort our community, family and friends have been to us. All your drop off meals, cards, flowers, Ryan Agler memorials and being there for us at the viewing and funeral. Most of all your prayers during this very difficult time. Many of you have sent bible verses, I read and reread those. Some of you have suffered the loss of a child, I feel your pain and will continue to feel this. What a blessing you all have been.

We can’t thank you enough Alspach Gearhart Funeral Home for all the comfort you gave us, being so kind to put this all together.

Trinity Friends Church for opening your doors to us, your warm embrace, you never hesitated. What a blessing you have been.

Paster Clark Williman for your visit and prayers with our family. Calvary for your thoughts and prayers.

Our son Eric Wise who gave up his time with his family, spent many hours writing and led us at the funeral.

Kim Hohman and the dance family, lyrical dancers for preforming so graceful and beautifully to “Rise Up” Ryan would have loved that. Thank you to Kim for organizing the Ryan Agler Memorial Fund. He will be remembered and honored well.

Kelsey Allenbaugh for putting our music and video together. We couldn’t have done it without you! You volunteered to do this for Ryan. Thank you.

Thank you to the American Legion for having us in for a meal, making everyone feel comfortable and sharing time with family and friends. To the ladies of the legion who prepared the wonderful food and desserts.

Thank you to family and friends who dropped off things with no names attached. Your thoughtfulness means so much.

I pray that God will give us the strength to move forward. To find some peace with all of this. Will you please continue to pray for our family.

Thank you,

Ed & Brenda Agler
