If the 2020 presidential election was strictly a referendum on the
character, temperament, diplomacy, decency and behavior of Donald Trump,
the Democrat candidate, no matter who he or she might be, would have a
very good chance of winning.
But, if the Democrat candidate
insists on making the election about their own extremely liberal agenda,
there is a good chance President Trump wins re-election and continues
to confound his critics. Their far left agenda is seeding the GOP
campaign strategy. It’s very early and there is a long way to go before
Nov. 3, 2020.
So far, after two Democrat debates, the Democrats
have painted a picture of America as a bleak house for everyone but the
very rich. They say the country is divided by class, race and gender and
that is the sole responsibility of Republicans.
Progressives and
radical liberals spend every day telling us the endless ways we are
falling short as a country; that inequality is rampant, that we’re a
racist bunch and are most likely bigots. Despite eight years under the
Obama Administration, Democrats accept no responsibility for these
short-comings.
Unless you give some credit to Obama, the Democrats
see no benefit from having a booming economy which has produced rising
wages, lower taxes, low unemployment and job opportunities for Americans
of all social classes.
Has everyone benefited equally from this
economy, maybe not, but let’s not obsess about that and consider the
reasons for rising family living costs. Politics of envy is not a good
image and Democrats shouldn’t tell people that the government is the
only way out of every bad situation.
Because this is America, we
have a high standard of living. Folks insist on having it all regardless
of the costs. In many areas, a household could have an income of
$80,000 a year and still struggle to make ends meet.
Chances are,
that same household could see their income increase to $100,000 a year
and they would still be unable to cover an unexpected $1,000 emergency
expense. We tend to live beyond our means. Who doesn’t love easy credit?
We’ve
learned from the debates that Democrats are mostly sold on climate
change, the Green New Deal, the end for all fossil fuels, open borders,
free health care for all Americans (and for all illegal foreigners),
forgiving most college loans, tuition free college, raising tax rates on
middle-class citizens and socking the wealthy with tax rates as high as
70 to 90 percent.
They support the idea of reparations. Some want
to end private health care for 170 million Americans. They want the
Electoral College ended; they want the District of Columbia and Puerto
Rico made states and they propose expanding the Supreme Court from 9
members to 15 members so it can be packed with liberal judges.
These
planks in the party platform will traumatize a majority of moderate
Americans. It’s hard to have a conversation without facing accusations
of political correctness. They even had Kamala Harris attack Joe Biden
(Obama’s vice president for eight years) for being insensitive to racial
norms because of what he did 30 years ago.
In what part of the
real world does anyone believe college should be free and loan debts be
forgiven? Think of the millions of working class people who never
considered going to college, yet they would be forced to help pay off
the loans for others.
How about the millions of people who have
lived their lives voluntarily taking out loans for cars, homes and
business ventures and it never occurred to them that someone else would
be asked to repay the loans. It just doesn’t seem right to them.
It’s
this kind of pandering for votes that turns off millions of voters.
Those voters want a good reason not to vote for Trump’s re-election.
Democrats should reconsider the tone they are projecting. They should
legislate, not investigate. They should not want the current
administration to fail.

When I watch TV or
read a newspaper column, they talk about being woke, lit, drip or a
snowflake. I don’t know what they mean. Is it a good thing or a bad
thing? I did some online research.
A snowflake is defined as a
term used by individuals who generally self-identify as conservative to
name-call individuals who politically disagree with them.
The
dictionary said it is a derogatory slang term, implying that they have
an inflated sense of uniqueness, an unwarranted sense of entitlement,
are overly emotional, easily offended and unable to deal with opposing
opinions.
The slang term Drip has had many meanings over the
years. It once meant being arrogant. Now, it means being very smooth,
cool, pleasant or another way of saying awesome.
Years ago, if a
person was lit, they were intoxicated. Now it means exciting, excellent,
fun and amazing. It’s good to be lit and drip.
Now about woke. If
you are woke, you are aware of and attentive to important facts and
issues of racial and social justice. The more woke one is, the more
sympathetic and knowledgeable one is about a topic or type of person.
Merriam-Webster
says: We have a moral obligation to “stay woke,” take a stand and be
active; challenging injustice and racism and fighting hatred.
The
Free Dictionary says woke is a slang term. No kidding? If you are woke
you are aware of the injustice of the social system in which we live.
