Ilona Stautmeister Hensel
Ilona Stautmeister Hensel
Ilona came from Germany to complete her final year of high school in Van Wert, and graduate with the class of 1963. We remember her smiling face and friendly personality. The following was translated from the eulogy written by her family.

As few people can, Ilona enriched our lives with love, happiness and exuberance. As a loving mother and committed teacher, she was always on the side of decency, justice and goodwill toward fellow humans. For that, we thank her from the bottom of our hearts. She had much to bear throughout her sickness, all the while showing a relentless will to carry on. Bidding Ilona farewell is very difficult for us. Losing her leaves a hole. Colorful memories of a uniquely special person are our consolation.

“When through one man, a little more love and goodness, a little more light and truth comes into the world, then that man’s life has had meaning.” - Alfred Delp

She has left us, but her love remains forever.

Due to the current situation, the memorial service will be held for immediate family. At a later time, Ilona’s ashes will be spread at sea in the tradition of her family.

Ilona is survived by her husband Rainer, two sons Dirk and Kai, daughter Anja, and grandchildren Samuel and Julian

Condolences can be sent to the family at 20 Schifferberg, Bergisch Gladbach, Deutschland (Germany), 51465.
