CONVOY, Ohio — James A. “Jim” Thomas, 74, of Convoy, passed away
Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2018, at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice. He was born Jan.
14, 1944, in Mendon, to the late Freda (Dillbone) and Max Thomas.
In
1972, Jim married the love of his life, Becky Wolf, who preceded him in
death. He served in the United States Army and went on to work for
Freuhauf Corp. for 30 years before moving to the maintenance department
at Walmart.
Jim was a member of the Moose Lodge and the American
Legion. He enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family and
friends.
He is survived by his daughter, Paula Dawson; son, Scott
Thomas, both of Convoy; grandchildren, Stacey (Shane) Carroll, Stephanie
(Eric) Hammond, Haley Dawson, Trew Thomas, Zoey Thomas; 7
great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In
addition to his parents and wife, Jim was preceded in death by his
son-in-law, Rodney Dawson; brothers: Maxi, Gene, Bill, Jerry, Ron, and
sister, Pam Vannette.
A celebration of Jim’s life will
begin at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral
Home & Crematory with funeral honors rendered by the combined units
of the Van Wert VFW and American Legion. Visitation will be prior to the
service from 1 to 3 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to the family.
